Big Stock Photo and Keywords

Image
BigStockPhoto has done some tweaking with their key-wording program when you upload your images. The new built in code will highlight words that my be copyrighted or have other issues. This will save you time for any keyword rejections you might get for the above reasons. Check it out. There are a couple hundred words that we are not allowed to use such as commercially trademarked names like "Scrabble" or "Kleenex". etc., as well as a some prohibited dirty words, and other trademarked names and items such as Ford automobiles or the Chrysler Building that we can have as Editorial if they are potentially newsworthy images, but that we cannot license as Standard License imagery. The new Problem Keyword Alert system is intended to simply make you aware of the potentially problem t

October Sales

Image
So I have finished the chart for October sales and I wish I had not seen it. October was horrible, I mean just flat out sad. For the year, it was well at the bottom. For example my favorite stock site Dreamstime , which still took first, was down around 75% for Sept alone. I sure hope this is not a sign of the busy shopping season ahead. Upside is I have a large batch of images that are being processed and should have another 200 images entered before the end of the year. So, here is the break down. iStyndica Upgrades

Image
Some more great updates over at iSyndica as the strive to make their site even more of a one stop shop. A few months ago the launched a cool free feature that let you post your images, video, etc to several sites for advertising (facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.). There however was a issue that several photographers noted....a crappy water mark at the very bottom. Problem solved, iSyndica now lets you choose upload your own watermarks for this distrubution option. Also upgraded are several new reporting tools. Custom Watermarks! How Does It Work? Apply a custom watermark* to all your images, videos and illustrations and distribute them on Flickr, YouTube & more. Upload a .PNG file to our new watermark manager to create your own watermark and decide on the resolution of the image . Some of you prefer to send smaller images on public sites and this update lets you do just that. You will find all these options on the channel configuration screen. *Note that you will need a PLUS s

The 3D Studio

Image
The 3d Studio added to major upgrades to give their costumers better support and to start competing better against other major stock photography players. You will now see and additional larger size available for images and very open ended extended license. 400 pixel size announced One of the most commonly requested items we get from customers is for a smaller image size so we are introducing a 400 pixel size starting with all images that are being added from November 2nd and on. The minimum (and suggested) price for this new “X-Small” size is $2.00 USD. This should prove to be a very popular size and will give The3dStudio.com an edge as we ramp up our Stock Image business since customers can now buy a single image for $2.00 on our site. No goofy credits and no subscriptions needed! All images that were added before November 2nd will AUTOMATICALLY be upgraded to this new size over the new few days. If you prefer to NOT sell your images added before 11/2/2009 at this new size the
