Kodak Kodachrome

Kodak is calling it quits on its 74 year long Kodak Kodachrome line. This is breaking an end of an era to film photography. For a little background info, Eastman Kodak's Kodachrome line was the oldest in the companies history and peaked in the 50's and 60's. Today the average sales of Kodachrome are less then 1%, which makes the reason for the company's choice to end the brand. Kodak believes retail stores will run out of the film by the fall of this year and plans to stop processing the film at the end of 2010. Today, 70% of Kodak's business has moved into the digital market and making the days of classic film camera coming to an end. To many people this announcement is not that big of a deal, sense the average user never used Kodachrome. However the film was a favorite for Hollywood and many professional photographers. RIP, little guy...you had a heck of a run
