Geavity is a great little website that lets you create a profile showing all you camera toys you own now, want and owned in the past. The website is easy to navigate and 100% free. All you do is just sign up, add any personal info you want and finally do a search for you equipment to add. I wonderful part of the website is the option to write reviews of past and new equipment. So before you go out an buy that new camera, lens, etc. I would recommend seeing what current owners thing of it. You don't have to be a member to see any of the reviews if the person sets their profile to public. A finial feature of the site is to become a photo community with adding friends and giving you the option to make comments to other users. I am signed up under Moonb007, so feel free to stop by and say hello. http://www.geavity.com/

General News

This is just a quick post about little things that have been going on around several sites. BigStockPhoto - has raised the payout rate from $30 to $50. No word on why they made this change. Albumo - Looks like albumo has goon dormant as several users are complaining on lack of payment and image reviews have also seemed to stop. ScandinavianStock - has upgraded their forum to a more friend format, although, still very slow.

Change's in the air for Mostphoto's

Some major changes coming to Mostphoto's . Mostphoto 3.0 will launch in early September with several updates for the better. First off, IE6 support will be dropped. Not a big deal unless you don't do updates, which if that's the case you wont like 3.0 as its an update. New upload process is streamlined, improved image tagging, improved voting on images and more. Read below for some highlights or go to their running blog . Image processing Your image will be queued for processing as soon as it is completely uploaded to Mostphotos via any of the upload methods. So if you are uploading to the ftp, you don't need to visit the site to start the import any more. And your photos will appear on the tagging site as soon as they are processed. So you can start working while our severs work on the remaining images. A progressbar will be visible on the site while you are browsing around that shows how many images are in waiting to be processed and how many that are ready for

There are three major updates to report at The3dStudio site. For those of you that don't know about them, they are one of the leading 3D and Texture websites for professionals. The biggest announcement is they are now the only site I know of that has no minimum requirements for getting your payout...must use paypal. They have jumped into the stock photography world, check them out. Read below for the new news. PayPal minimum balance requirements removed We’ve been working hard to automate our royalty payments to you so that we could remove the $50 minimum on PayPal payments and I am very happy to say that we have completed that upgrade. Everyone who uses PayPal as their payment method will get paid each month regardless of how much you are owed. We will be starting this with the September 1st payment. We know these are tough times and we want to do our best to help get your royalties into your pockets as soon as possible and this new update will help us do that. Navigatio

Shutterstock and Twitter (I am back)

Image
I know it’s been a while sense I made a post on the blog…sorry about that. This is not because of the lack of exciting stuff going on around the stock photography world, but due to my recent crazy work schedule that I have had. So, you will see a flood of updated coming out over the next few days. So let’s get down to the first cool new feature. Shutterstock has teamed up with Twitter by creating the application Shuttertweet. This is a great application for all your tweeters out there as the application will automatically make a tweet about you newly uploaded files to Shutterstock . Talk about a great way to get the word out about your new images and possibly pick up some referrals too. Read about it below. Showcase Your Work Using Twitter: Earn Referrals by Auto-tweeting About New Images and Downloads If you’re on Twitter, we just made it easier for you to tweet about all the cool work you’re showcasing on Shutterstock. If you haven’t yet taken the plunge into the Twittersphere
