Quick news update from Fotolia.  They have opened their 22nd office, with the newest location in the Netherlands.  Check it out below. Fotolia settles in the Netherlands! Is Fotolia is the #1 stock photography in Europe? YES Is it a reason to stop expanding our local markets? NO Fotolia is opening a new office in the Netherlands! This will be our 22nd office worldwide, just as our image collection is about to reach 22 million files! As always, we keep striving to be your go-to resource for all things creative!

Fotolia Tweaks

  Fotolia did some minor tweaks this month that gives you two options for your portfolio.  First up you can now exclude video files from subscription sales.  Second they have changed the pricing for extended license files that now requires a minimum of 20 credits.  It also can't be lower then your highest price offering, so you cant have a 24 credit Standard XXL license and get the Extended License under 24 credits.  Log in and check out the changes.

Fotolia Indexing Feature

Fotolia updates their submittable process which allows you to categorize, keyword, title, etc several images in on batch.  Check it out next time you upload some images, see official write up below.  New to Fotolia, join here . Fotolia rolled out their new website layout.  Shortly after announcing their price drop in royalties coming with the new site.  The site does have a cleaner and more user friendly look, which several buyers and contributors should both like.  Some of the new features include refined searching, which now lets you search by price point.  Also they have changed their subscription plans for buyers.  So log in and check it out . ...

Fotolia Drops Royalties

Stock photography sites continue to race to the bottom when it comes to royalty rates.  Fotolia has announced they are working hard to lower your earnings by dropping the royalty rates.  They are now aligning themselves with iStock , which had a large number of complaints when they lowered their royalties and became one of the more hates sites.  However iStock did not see the large fallout that was talked about and it appears that Fotolia has noticed that.  The biggest hit was to vectors, who royalties dropped almost 80%.  This also marks the second time in one year for contributors to drop in royalties at Fotolia , as they changed their ranking settings in the spring, which dropped several users down on earnings. We've been hard at work for the last few months adding features to make the site more convenient for both contributors and artists. Fotolia launches Audio

Fotolia has launched stock audio with the partnering of AudioMicro.  The guys behind Fotolia have had a fruitful partnership with audiomicro on flixtime, but with their recent investment in the company they are now driving Fotolia users to the site.  If you are an auto sock contributor be sure to check out the program via Fotolia's or AudioMicro sites. On a side note, Fotolia has hit the 12 million file mark for their site.

Fotolia Changes for 2011

Fotolia Premium Subscriptions

Fotolia is launching premium subscription plans for their stock photography site. After several request from their customer base they have agreed to allow downloads of high-resolution images, vectors and video clips. Currently their subscription services only included lower resolution images for the cheaper prices. I personally allow most sites to offer my photos as a subscription item, but as in the past will several sites it will be intresting to see the photoghers feedback. Photographers will get a higher sale count for these images over the standard plan.
